Good Friday - I know what it is, but I wanted to see what the internet had to say. I googled it and read:
Many Christians spend this day in fasting, prayer, repentance, and meditation on the agony and suffering of
Christ on the cross.
While reading this, the words agony and suffering REALLY stood out to me.
Dictionary.com says:
Agony: Extreme mental and/or physical suffering
Suffering: Experience or be subjected to something bad or unpleasant.
The agony and suffering that I felt I had been experiencing these last two days - due to tremendous lack of sleep, and the inability to sooth my little Jillian- is NOTHING but maybe a speck of dust in comparison to the agony and suffering that Jesus experienced. Scourged, stripped, a crown of thorns twisted on his head, whipped with a reed, mocked, spit on....and the list goes on. All for OUR sins, MY sins!
I do not know agony, nor do I want to experience it. Suffering....maybe I've experience it slightly....but nothing even close to what suffering could really be - that of which I do not want to experience either.
What a gracious Lord we serve!
Today, I am greatful for the trials that God has put in my life. Greatful that He supplied the ultimate sacrifice, His Son - Jesus Christ, so that my life would be spared and my sins would be forgiven. Today I am going to shift my focus from my "agony & sufferings" to the agony & sufferings of Christ - pray & meditate.
Have a GOOD FRIDAY,
Love,
Amanda
